Vital Trainings in the Bowspring
3-day Therapeutics Trainings
In this therapy training any level of Sridava student will learn how to therapeutically apply the Bowspring for a wide range of musculo-skeletal injuries or chronic pains including:
Feet - bunions and plantar fasciitis
Knees - tendonitis, ligament injury
Hips - degeneration due to chronic psoas tightness
Lower Back - sacro-illiac pain, lumbar disk injury
Shoulders - rotator cuff injury, chronic pain
Elbows - tendonitis
Neck - chronic pain
Jaw - grinding of teeth
Head - chronic headaches
Each student will learn how to become aware of and consciously change old postural habits, which are at the root of chronic alignment issues and physical pains.
7-day Lifestyle Intensives
The special 7-day Bowspring Lifestyle Intensives provide students the time to dive deeper into their understanding of the philosophy and alignment of the Bowspring system. The Intensive includes daily 3-hour intensive sessions and practice within 7 sessions. At the end of these 7 days with Desi and John, each participant will surely be transformed in their Mind-Body and Heart!
The 7-day Intensive will help any level of Sridaiva student gain:
greater sense of accountability for their health through their body-mind posture
greater empowerment, stronger faith in one's increasing capacities
greater capacity for self-respect and self-love
greater sense of supportive community
expanded awareness of personal postural patterns
The special 3-hour Intensive session each day includes:
Postural theory of the Bowspring
Informing all movements of daily life, sitting, standing, walking, running
Q & A
Detailed breakdown of the Bowspring in its elemental and Level 1 forms
Individualized postural adjustments to take one's health to a new level of balance.
Enthusiastic students are also welcome to take public classes at Vital by purchasing class passes in addition to the Lifestyle Intensive.
10-week Deep Dive
September 30 - December 11, 2016
Orientation: Friday, September 30, 3-5pm
We are now accepting applications for a 10-week journey of lifestyle transformation – the Deep Dive, which starts September 30th and goes until December 11th this year. Desi and John have created a brand new curriculum for this year’s Deep Dive which will be run for 16 hours per weekend. It will be a heroic student’s journey to take a full evaluation of themselves on all levels – body-mind-heart – and to choose a higher path of health and harmony in their lives. All Deep Dive heroic students will gain a powerful expansion in self-awareness of their deep seated habitual patterns of both posture and their unconscious mind. Each day of this 200-hour course (including at least 3 Bowspring weekly classes at Vital for 10 weeks) will increase the capacity to wisely choose our lifestyle and way of being healthy for a long life of happiness. This Deep Dive will offer practical and skillful knowledge on cultivating physical health (dynamic posture / exercise, and diet), mental power (focus, attention span, mindfulness, and critical thinking), and spiritual virtues (resiliency, accountability, compassion, gratitude, and courage). The information presented in this comprehensive course can be applied for years to come for healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life.
Students who enroll in the Deep Dive this year we will be offered the opportunity to be videotaped and documented over the 10-weeks to measure the shifts in their mind-body health before and after! Each student can then have their journey of personal transformation well documented for their future review.
This Deep Dive will help each student to take their mindset, physical alignment, and diet to the next level of higher health and harmonic balance. By using the Bowspring as our dynamic postural template, each student will learn how to consciously re-pattern a new healthier lifestyle for themselves. The 10-week course will take each heroic student on an archetypal journey of moving into the shadows of their unconscious mind-body, and then courageously choosing to embody a new radiant level of health and harmony. The 10 stages of the noble student’s journey are influenced by the work of Joseph Campbell, who saw the universal mythos of a soul heeding a life-calling to periodically venture into the dark of their own mind to transform into the light of expanding wisdom. In the dark, the soul is challenged to progress on the path to the light. It is in the dark that the soul cultivates the character virtues or inner strengths to overcome the challenges. The heroic student gains wisdom through the whole 10 stages of learning each particular universal life lesson. The Deep Dive offers the technical tools and the opportunity to learn how to skillfully deal with life’s difficulties.

More than a Teacher Training
In previous years, this 200-hour training at Vital has been focused on educating and guiding trainees in teaching yoga professionally. Although the last two annual trainings deemphasized training professional yoga teachers, and concentrated the course curriculum instead on studentship, several of the SSTT (Sridaiva Student-Teacher Training) graduates went on this year to start teaching Bowspring professionally. This year’s Deep Dive will focus on conveying the alignment method and its philosophy in such depth to each heroic student that they will be well prepared to naturally share the Bowspring in the world, whether for money or as a free service.
John, Desi, and Micah couldn’t be more excited to share this path of healing with everyone!
Micah will be leading the annual Ayurvedic cleanse this fall at Vital. All Deep Dive students will have the chance to join Micah to learn how to cultivate a vegetarian, Earth-based diet and other practices to move towards radiant health. Micah has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of mind-body health, nutrition, and spirituality.
